T O P I C R E V I E WYangFirst of all Happy new year Do you wonder why our parents name us the name we are given?I mean why have a name whereas there are thousands of other names out there? Is it because our parents unconscoiusly already have our name in their mind and when we are born, we are named our name?Is it because they know it will suit us?Or do we already given our name before we are born by some higher force?Or is it just a simple hat game that whatever our name is, is becuase they pulled it out a hat( figuratively of cause, but some parents would do that physically, I think).Just wondering!------------------Balance is the Key to LifeYinI'd like to think that my name was the only name that would suit my personality. In a way, my mom had no other choice but to name me what she did. I love my name!!! It vibrates to 7 which is my Personal Year and Life Path number according to numerology and also my birth date. Thanks, mom! pixelpixieI named a beautiful plant I had years ago "Claire" as I thought it sounded like beauty personified ~ clarity, innocence, beauty. This is what it says to me. I named my daughter Claire Willow. "Clear Healer"This was meant.... whether it was from me or elsewhere, she suits it.. her beautiful, empathic personality. My own name is Opal. I was born at the end of October. When people hear my name they say "oh, were you born in October?" I say yes, but that was just a coincidence.*What mother doesn't choose a name, and then at the last push, says... What month is this? Oh, I will call her "Topaz". I mean, really!!!!My grandfather worked with Opals.. they were a regular fixture around his house and on our necks and fingers and ears. The polished ones and the raw ones. He'd grab a wet stone, hold it up to the light, making sure you saw every nuance of colour and he'd say "Look at this one, she's a beaut." Then chuckle in his way. That is why I am named Opal. An irridescent stone, multifaceted with colour and dullness, always changing with the light cast.It suits me. Am I unusual because my name is unusual? ( or perhaps that I have Uranus conjunct my Sun? ) Whatever the reason, it works.. and seems right.SAWSAN HammoudaI have a wierd story in this matter. Mom's uncle, when born, he was given a name. But he was very week, got sick and didn't recover. There was that advice that his aura is not in harmony with his name. When his parents changed the name he was cured and the heavy load was lifted. He grew up to be "Dega" of Egypt. His paintings are sold for a fortune.PhilbirdHi Guys! Happy New Year!!My real name is MaryBeth, I hate it! First, I grew up Catholic, and knew it wasn't natural for me to be naturally "pure", like the Virgin Mary. Second, I have an overbite, so I can't say Beth without butchering it. Any way, I was expected to be a boy, and was named after the nurse who delivered me. So there was no real thought to my name. I have always liked the name Maya... and contemplated changing it many times! I'll have to look up the meaning behind Maya. Sounds a bit like someone who is unpredictable or mysterious, which I am.miss_applesWhen I was young I thought my name was too wierd (even though it really isnt) and I wanted a common name like Sarah. Now I love my name and every time I look in the mirror I say "ah yes, I definatly look like a Tiffannie"I have always wanted to name my first born son Nicholas after a good friend in my high school. However when I was pregnant with my son, I wasnt with my sons father and with my current boyfriend whose name is Nicholas. I thought it would be kinda odd if I named my son Nicholas because that was my boyfriends name and he wasnt my sons father. So I named him Maxwell instead. He definatly looks like a Maxwell and not a Nicholas. So I truly believe that he was not supposed to have the name Nicholas.sassygrrrlWhen I was growing up, I was the only person I knew with my first name and I felt rather unique because of it. But now there are around a half dozen movie stars with my name. LOL I do like my name though. When my mom was pregnant with me, a friend of hers was also pregnant. And my mom liked the first name the friend had picked out for her baby so much that my mom chose the same name for me. SaffronDear Swasan ~that's an intriguing and cool story. and your name? anything to do with your mission?i like the name saffron because it is a mystic spice and a spiritual color.as for my given name, it's celtic, and also very significant for my background and my future. i've been giving it a lot of thought lately.especially how i've named my son. it appears my choice, random, i thought, which just felt so natural and right, has some serious connections as well, which i'm only now discovering in my musings. i believe my unconscious choice has some powerful design in it.rock on!Aquarian GirlPOST EDITEDI thought the better of this post. Too much personal info. sorry.Google can be used for evil things!WindyOk, Aquarian girl, It's edit. Don't worry! I understand you SAWSAN HammoudaWell, my name is Sawsan, equivelant to Suzan in Enlish. sao-san, not zaozan, but a pure ssss sound. Today my mother told me why she picked that name for me.Her name is Essmat, but her mother only called her sawsan when she wanted to pamper her. So mom hears her mothers warm voice whenever she hears that name. Mom is a writer, she used that name in all her novels. And when she had me, she was determined to call me sawsan. It's the name of a flower, the lily. Aquarian GirlEeeeeek... Windy, thank you for the lovely things you said, but I put all those dashes and periods in there so my name can't be googled Can you edit the post please, or one of the mods, can you take my name out of Windy's post?I'm editing mine... I'm not worried about the knowflakes, I just don't want to be googled and I realize I put way too much identifying info in there... coupled with the rest of my posts on this site, it's not a good thing NackieMy real name is Stephenie, spellt with 3 e's...I've had to explain that one all my life. Especially now in Germany, when someone asks how to spell my name, they're like, with an "f" or "ph", and I'm like, "p-h-e"...HUH?? lolMy dad's name is Stephen. He can't spell. He filled out my birthcert when I was born, and thought, Stephanie..hmm...how do you spell that...Stephen-ie, sounds good to me lolI think my name fits me, I couldn't imagine being called anything else. I did go through a (rather long) stage when I wouldn't answer to Steph. I hated to sound of that. To this day only my siblings call me that. The Germans butcher my name into Steffi and I HATE THAT NAME! Pronounced "schtaeffy". I really really hate that name lolNackie
